Pen Pal Visit!

We had some special visitors today! Our Truman education students that we've been pen pal writing back and forth to all semester finally came for a visit and they brought some fun treats to share with us. We built our very own yummy snowmen!

Kids and Chemistry Visit

This afternoon, the 3rd and 4th graders got to experiment with acids, bases, and we even painted fish with these chemicals! We learned what an 'indicator' was also. Thanks so much Truman State "Kids and Chemistry" program for sharing and helping us grow as scientists!

Happy Johnny Appleseed Day!

 

We had a fun-filled day celebrating Johnny Appleseed today! We learned about the "legend" of Johnny Appleseed (otherwise known as John Chapman), graphed and classified our apples, discussed what a "good deed" is, estimated the number of seeds in our apples, compared apples to gourds and pumpkins, drank some apple cider, and we even made our own pot for a hat, just like Johnny Appleseed. Ask your child about how much fun we had! :)

For those of you that missed the "Reading Circle Book Report Log" sent home in your child's take-home folder last week, here is a link where you can print off the form as needed throughout the year. I also have copies in the classroom. Remember, 3rd graders must complete 16 book reports this year - 11 fiction and 5 nonfiction.
